Leonardo DiCaprio will be on the cover of the October issue of GQ. You can read the interview below with GQ, and don’t forget to pick up your copy!
On if he has any interest in directing:“Yeah, I do. And if I did direct, I would try to have the same no-bulls— approach to it as [Clint Eastwood] and his crew have. Seriously, there are no frills on his set. It’s a small, tight-knit crew.”
On which movie he’s proud of: “The Aviator. I’d wanted to play Howard Hughes for 10 years and was around for multiple rewrites. Michael Mann was on it at one point. And finally [Martin] Scorsese got involved. I was very proud of that movie. It was the first film where I felt inherently like a partner.”
On a movie he originally passed on, then changed his mind: “My father has always been a huge force with me. I had passed on a script about the French poet Arthur Rimbaud [Total Eclipse]. He explained to me that Rimbaud was the James Dean of his time… I did the movie, and I loved playing him. If I just waited for moments of ‘I have to do this,’ I would do a movie only every four or five years.”
The Los Angeles County Museum of Art just announced the inaugural Art + Film Gala will help honor actor and filmmaker Clint Eastwood and artist John Baldessari at LACMA on Saturday, November 5, 2011.
DiCaprio and LACMA Trustee Eva Chow will co-chair the evening, which Gucci is also supporting. Proceeds from the gala will be used to support LACMA’s initiative to make film more central to the museum’s curatorial programming, while also funding LACMA’s broader mission.
This will include the newly reinvigorated film program led by Film Independent’s Elvis Mitchell, as well as exhibitions, acquisitions, and educational programming, in addition to screenings that explore the intersection of art and film.

The Warner Bros.-distributed biopic, starring Leonardo DiCaprio, will premiere on Nov. 3 in advance of its Nov. 9 theatrical release.
The mystery of where Clint Eastwood’s anticipated J.Edgar will premiere has been solved.
After bypassing the Venice/Telluride/Toronto festival scene, the biopic will open the American Film Institute’s annual AFI Fest. Starring Leonardo DiCaprio as FBI director J. Edgar Hoover and written by Oscar-winner Dustin Lance Black, the Warner Bros.-distributed film will debut at a gala on Nov. 3 in advance of its opening in limited theaters on November 9 and a platform release (and awards campaign) after that.
“Clint Eastwood is an American icon — one whose work as a director, actor, producer and composer not only stands the test of time, but also continues to add new, rich chapters with each passing year,” AFI president and CEO Bob Gazzale said in a statement.
This year’s 25th annual AFI Fest will take place from November 3 through November 10 in and around Hollywood. Venues include the Chinese Theatre, the Egyptian Theatre and the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel.
