New York Magazine’s Fall Issue

Leonardo DiCaprio is featured on New York Magazine’s Fall Preview issue. In the magazine DiCaprio talked all about the making of The Wolf of Wall Street, here is what he had to say:

On making Wolf of Wall Street with Martin Scorsese: “I told Marty, ‘I don’t think we’ll be able to do a movie like this too many times in the future. Larger-scale, R-rated dramas, like Blood Diamond or The Departed, don’t really get financed anymore.”
On his real-life character Jordan Belfort: “There was nothing Jordan wouldn’t divulge, no matter how intimate or embarrassing. That was the attraction for Marty as well—it’s the kind of brutal honesty that got Marty into making movies like Mean Streets.”
On researching the role: “I wanted a close relationship with him so that I could weave intimate details into the movie, things that weren’t in the book. I was kind of the middleman between him and Marty, and I would bring pages of notes from my meetings with Jordan—things like this insane orgy on a 747 going to Vegas, chimpanzees in diapers that would skate through the Stratton offices, very intimate stuff about his relationships with women—and Marty was game to try everything. His approach was essentially to put everything onscreen and see what we responded to. It was old-school, really independent filmmaking on a larger scale.”

The fall issue of New York Magazine is on newsstands now.

Star Wars Episode 7?

Ryan Gosling, Zac Efron and Leonardo DiCaprio have reportedly met with Disney to discuss roles in Star Wars Episode 7. Drive actor Gosling, who first found fame in US TV show The Mickey Mouse Club as a child star, is up for the role of Luke Skywalker’s son, according to Latino Review. Efron has been in discussions for an unconfirmed role while DiCaprio was ruled out since his meeting. Meanwhile, Samuel L Jackson recently revealed that he has no idea if he’ll star in Star Wars Episode 7.

The actor, who played Jedi Master Mace Windu, bumped into JJ Abrams at George Lucas’s wedding but still has no clue if he will be cast in the new film.

He told AP: ‘JJ was there, I was there. I was like [raises eyebrows] and he was like [shrug], and he just went about his business. I don’t know what that means.’

Jackson added: ‘Harrison [Ford] was there too, and he was like [shrug]. I just think it would be cool to have some of us that people relate to as being part of the Star Wars franchise to give entire to the new characters that they’re going to bring to whatever the new thing is. It kind of makes it an easier entrance.’

Star Wars Episode 7 is set for release in 2015.

Jamie Foxx on Leonardo DiCaprio: “He’s an Avenger!”

In a recent interview Jamie Foxx talked about his Django Unchained co-star Leonardo DiCaprio. You can find the interview below.

“Let me tell you something, first of all, he’s 6′ 2,”” Jamie told us before the Comic-Con panel for the Quentin Tarantino-directed film. “He comes in there with all the good looks, you know, he’s on the tabloids with the models and everybody’s thinking, ‘Is he going to be that guy?'”
Jamie continued, “Then he is absolutely his character. It makes you go back to your hotel room and really get yourself together because you know you have to be tight. I think that it was great for him, because I know he shies away from the commercial films. He doesn’t like a commercial film, he wants to be the student.
“There is one scene, I think I can let out of the bag, where he finds us out, who we are, and he’s angry with us and slams his hand on the table every take,” Jamie explained. “Every take is hard. I’m like, ‘Wow.’ And one take, somehow the shot glass slid to where his hand is supposed to be, slams his hand on the table and breaks the shot glass.”
“It goes through his hand. There’s blood. And he’s still going. And I’m like a little girl, I’ve got my hands up,” Jamie recalled, switching into a girly tone. “‘He’s so courageous! He’s an Avenger!‘…People came up, gave him a standing ovation, if that’s any indication of how he is. He was amazing.”

Django Unchained is in theaters December 25, 2012.

Martin Scorsese wants Leonardo DiCaprio to play Sinatra

In a recent interview, Martin Scorsese revealed what we had all expected for so long, he wants Leonardo DiCaprio to play Frank Sinatra in his biopic, which is currently in development.

When asked “So you still have Leo in mind for Sinatra?” Scorsese replied “Yes I do, but we are staring again with a new script and so that should begin in January or February.”

However, Scorsese stated that he couldn’t reveal who would be penning the script, suggesting that Phil Alden Robinson, who was originally signed on to write the script, is no longer around.

Also, when asked how he would tackle the music, he said his “first instinct” would be to have recorded music of Sinatra on top of the actor, while still trying to make it not look like lip syncing. When asked about the possibility of it being in 3D, he replied “Why not? Open your minds.”

Another Scorsese project we will see shortly is The Irishman. When asked about a potential sequel to Taxi Driver, Scorsese said “that came and went and we (Scorsese and Robert De Niro) have another project in mind that we hope to get next year or so.”

When asked if it was the one based on the book, Scorsese confirmed “Yeah Paint Houses” which is of course the book I Heard You Paint Houses, which Scorsese has retitled The Irishman for his film.

We know that Sinatra, The Gambler and Furious Love are all in development with Scorsese at the helm and we can presume that The Snowman will also join that list. However, be the sounds of “next year or so” Scorsese still may not have decided whether to do The Irishman or, his long awaited passion project Silence, first. It had previously been stated that Silence would start in January, but with no mention of it here, it seems it may have hit yet another road block.

Hopefully as Scorsese does the rounds for his latest film, Hugo, we will find out more information on the status of his many upcoming films. And if we do, we’ll keep you posted.
